Submit My Blog: What You Need To Know

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

The foremost question on the minds of most up and coming bloggers is “Why should I submit my blog to directories?” The answers to this question are quite varied, with some opting to submit to several blog directories at a time, with others failing to see much point in it. What I have learned through extensive research and experience however, is that I get consistently good results when I submit my blog to a few different blog directories a short time after launching them.

Some of the more obvious benefits I have gained when I submit my blog to blog directories are the almost immediate backlinks I got to my blog. The result was that my websites became more “attractive” to search engines, which indexed them more readily and in turn caused them to achieve a higher ranking in search engine results pages.

Search engines particularly value these links. All things being equal, search engines place a higher value on pages that have more links, since this is a sign of a worthy blog. This is actually how I got better results when I submit my blog to blog directories. I also learned that it wasn’t actually the directory list that gave me more hits on my site.

There remains some contention with regard to how many directories is the right number to submit my blog to. Opinions range from the modest to the outlandish, with some people of the thinking that I should submit my blog to as many different blog directories as I could manage.

Many web experts agree that as little as 5 to 10 blog directories may actually be more than enough. For although search engines are attracted to sites that have plenty of links, they are more likely to place a higher value on links that are featured on on topic posts and articles, as opposed to those that come from blog directories.

The question that this all brings up is how do I find blog directories to submit my blog to? I found that a search for “blog directory” got me several leads in this regard. In fact, many of the better blog directories came in at the top of the search results pages.

I have often run into blog directories that require me to post backlinks or impose certain other requirements. I thought that I would be better off skipping those, as there are certainly many other directories that allow me to submit my blog without complicating matters too much.

Many of the blog directories I tried out were simple to submit content to. I felt that it would be best to skip the ones that take longer, and instead spend a few minutes in order to submit my blog only to a few blog directories. This gave me more time to work on my content and generate new links that way.

So you have a blog. Over time you have sharpened your writing skills and have developed a perspective that provides insight into relevant topics. Maybe you want to increase your readership and revenue to get some validation for all of that hard work you put into your writing. One way of doing this, is to have your blog listed in a directory. Check out a submit blog directory and see what kind of exposure is available for you and your work.

The current trend of the internet is to have information brought to you, either with RSS feeds or by finding a main hub of information from which to read. People are relying less on search engines to find what they are looking for. To be seen you need to bring your blog to a place with high visibility. You could be maintaining a top of the line blog that is filled with interesting viewpoints, but if you are not being seen then you are not being read. A submit blog directory has the readers, you have the material, let the submit blog directory create that bridge. The blogosphere is ripe with people who are looking for commentary outside of the mainstream. If you use a quality submit blog directory you will find your work grouped with people who comment on similar ideas and events. You will find in many blogs that there is a dialogue that occurs between different bloggers. If you use submit blog directories, you are more likely to be seen by your fellow bloggers and referred to when they are talking about similar topics. Opportunities like this can increase your exposure even more, and when someone is referring to your work it increases the perception of your credibility with readers.

Before you rush off and post your blog on any directory for more exposure, take the time ot learn about who you might associate yourself with. The first thing to look for is easy navigation. If you use a submit blog directory that is hard to sort through then you potential readership probably will not want to sort through it, meaning that your potential readership is no longer looking for you. Take some time to check the content of the other bloggers who use that submit blog directory. Do the other blogs bring good commentary with integrity? The only thing worse then no exposure is bad exposure and you do not want your hard work being associated with less then good writing and being disregarded by potential readers.
That research can pay off, a good submit blog directory can bring quality readership and revenue that will make your blog that much more enjoyable to write.

First you might want to check availability of the domain name to make sure it isn’t already in use by someone else. If the name you want is already in use, you can often use a suffix other than .com, such as .net or .biz, in order to obtain the name. To direct users to your business as often as possible, it is a good idea to register with more than one suffix for your domain name. It is as simple as that to register an internet domain. It is easy now to use your domain for business, an organization, or just personal use. Happy internet domain hunting! Goto.
